All it says is "I'm stubborn enough to own a dog that is inclined to attack and sometimes requires a pry bar because its jaws lock so tight on its prey. I can't afford homeowners insurance because of this risky dog. No neighborhood will allow me in. And I owe thousands in animal-control fines." That is how pit bull owners should be perceived. Sadie is a friendly and energetic husky/shepherd mix. She's playful and fun, and she seems intelligent and attentive. She definitely got her pale blue eyes from the husky side of her family tree. Pet obesity raising concern
LOGAN - Over recent months, adult and childhood obesity has been a major concern for many people across the nation, and now there is another form of health problem, and it includes our favorite four-legged friends.
Obesity in pets is a growing concern for pet-owners across the country, who sometimes don't even realize their cat or dog is growing larger every day. In fact, a recent study conducted by Pfizer Animal Health said that many owners don't realize their pets are overweight or at risk of health problems. According to the study, 47 percent of American dogs are overweight or obese, yet only 17 percent of dog owners would classify their dogs as being such.
As the No. 1 nutritional disorder in dogs, an estimated 25 to 44 percent of dogs in the United States are overweight or obese.
Rottweiler Rescue Makes Landmark Announcement
A small team of Rottweiler lovers have announced today that they have become only the second Rottweiler based organisation to be given charitable status. Zepthepep, named in honour of the dog that inspired the charity, Zephyr (pictured), have thanked the rescue website www.dogsblog.com for their help in acquiring this important status. The Sheffield based charity has already re-homed 40 Rottweilers this year. John Swinhoe, who established the rescue organisation with his wife Mags, had this to say about their work so far. "We will do whatever it takes to match the right dog into the right home for that particular dogs needs. No dog is ever knowingly placed into a situation by ZRR, where it would be chained up, used as a guard dog, neglected or used in any other way that would be detrimental to the dog's health and well being.
Pups parade in the rain for fun and prizes
Kennedy's High School's Ramsey Field from all the wagging tongues and tails there. As Ralphie & Spike's First Ever Dog Show kicked off on the afternoon of May 26, Saturday, with dog owners and their four legged best friends gathering for the festivities under tents and in a main ring. All types of furry friends made a showing, from little Pomeranian pups to bounding Dalmatians to Chinaman Red Devil pit bulls. .
